Goodbye 2010 - Goodbye Lanie!

I noticed a short while ago that Lanie is sold out! Yep, she sold out on the very last day! She is such a sweet little doll and I'm so happy to have her. Congratulations to everyone else who was able to get her this year! While my Lanie was hanging out in her camper yesterday, I took a few pictures of her in her new pjs that I got for Christmas. I decided to post them today as a farewell to Lanie!

Onto 2011! I'm staying awake tonight to order Kanani with my mom. I'm really looking forward to her! While we wait for 2011 we're eating New Year's bread, jello rainbow popcorn, and some hot dips with chips and crackers. Do any of you have special plans for tonight? Are you still awake? Will you order Kanani? Happy New Year girls!

Kanani Books In Stores!

Yesterday I went to Barnes and Noble with my family. While I was there I spotted a large Kanani display with her two books, her photo album, and two other books; "Oodles of Ocean Fun" and "Lend a Hand". I bought her second book "Good Job Kanani" and the photo album. I think I'll go back for at least one more photo album because it is really cute. The photo album holds 52 4x6 photos and has a nice elastic band that holds it closed. It was $8.95. I didn't buy the first Kanani book because I'm going to order her on New Years day and she comes with her first book. I think she's adorable and I am really looking forward to getting her! Another picture (after I took the wrapper off of the photo album).

Kanani's second book cover

I finally found a good picture of Kanani's second book "Good Job Kanani". Her shirt is so cute and I can't wait to see what shorts are paired up with it! From the looks of the cover I'm guessing she is selling shave ice to help save the Monk Seals in Hawaii. I also know there will be a plush seal in her collection...sooooooo cute! Only 9 more days before we see Kanani and her entire collection!

I found this book cover on Amazon.

Chilly Day

I took some pictures of Chrissa and Honey on our back porch today in the snow. It was too cold to stay out there very long. Chrissa and Honey agreed. I brought them inside, warmed them up, and Chrissa sat by the window to watch the snow. :)

Kanani UPDATE

My mom found a REALLY good picture of Kanani's book AND a much better book summary with more details! I can't wait to see if she's wearing a dress, a shirt and a skirt, or a shirt and shorts. And, for some reason I am really excited about her shoes! :) Do you think they will make her cousin Rachel as a doll too? I hope so!

My mom found these HERE if you're interested. She has been checking all of the online book stores everyday. lol!

American Girl Fancy Flurries Activity

Last week I saw the "Fancy Flurries" activity on the American Girl website. I thought it looked like fun! I didn't have anything to do today so I made snowflakes! They aren't dry yet so I can't say if they will stick to the windows but I sure hope so! Have you tried this activity? I will let you know how they stick. Hopefully they will be dry in the morning!

American Girl Christmas Ornaments

I have one American Girl ornament from Hallmark that I just love. It's Addy in her Christmas dress holding Ida Bean. It's really adorable and it's one of my favorite ornaments on our tree.

This year I wanted more American Girl ornaments but of course, they don't make them anymore. My mom and I came up with a way to make our own. You will need some sort of flat ornament (you can make one with scuply clay and a cookie cutter OR you can buy one at Michaels like we did) and you will need everything in the picture below.....

First pick out the stickers that you like. Next write your name, date, or whatever you want on the ornament. Give it a few minutes for the marker to dry and then paint a thin coat of Mod Podge on top of the entire surface. After the first coat dries (about 20 minutes) you will need to paint a second coat. After the first side is totally dry (this takes a couple of a days) you can do the other side. It's really easy and really fun. I made two ornaments. One is Molly and Emily and the other is Felicity and Elizabeth. Let me know if you make them! I'd love to see how yours turn out! (All of these supplies can be purchased at Michaels.)

Here are the ornaments I made.....

The first one......

And the second one....

Christmas Wish List

Happy Monday! I talked my mom into making my holiday blog background and header today and I'm really excited about that! Do you like it? We took the new pictures together. My mom said she had an idea for it and brought some of the Christmas decorations up from the garage. I love it! Make sure you go to the bottom of my blog. There's a holiday footer too!
UPDATED: My mom didn't like part of the header she made yesterday and thought she could do better with a little more time. She made a new one today and I agree with her, it's awesome! OH! and we added Christmas music today too!
I love decorations and I can't wait until we put up our tree. My mom and dad like to wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas. Something about celebrating one holiday at a time. Anyway...I've seen a few people posting their holiday wish lists so I decided to post mine. I like surprises so I've only asked for what I can't live without. Well, I guess I could live without it but I'd really like to have it. Elizabeth just can't be without her best friend. She would be crushed. (And, so would I.) So, here's my very simple wish list.....

Moderation

Well, I knew it would happen eventually. I got an anonymous comment that was trying to be mean and hurtful. I'm sure "Anonymous" is reading so I'll just say this to that person. You're a coward. If you have something to say, at least have the courage to post it with a profile so that everyone else can see who you are. I really don't care. You're not hurting my feelings. I'm proud of who I am and I'm proud of what I post. If you don't like what you see on my blog then don't come here. Nobody is forcing you to read my blog. If anything you only hurt yourself. Did it make you feel good to say something mean? Probably not.

I didn't want to have to put moderation on but I don't think it's fair to everyone to have to read comments that are cruel. So, comment moderation is now enabled.

I don't like writing posts like this so instead of leaving this as a negative post, I will take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone that leaves kind comments on my blog. I love reading them and I love that you visit my blog!! Also, here's a picture of a leaf that I took a couple of weeks ago that I really love.

Saving For Dolls

This morning I got this comment....

"Hello Leah!
I love American girl dolls so much and I just bought one a few weeks ago. I have been reading some of your older posts and I have found that you buy alot of your own dolls too, and I was wondering if maybe you could do a post on tips for saving up for your own AG doll? I am really looking for ideas to help me save up for Ivy Ling. :)

Love, Meg"

I wanted to respond to Meg and I'm doing it in a post instead of a comment like Meg suggested so that everyone else can read it too.

Hi Meg and thanks for your comment!! Some of my dolls have been gifts and some of them I bought myself. I have three ways that I save money for dolls that will work for girls of any age.

1. Offer to help with anything and everything! Even if you're young...you can still help with things. You may not be able to wash the entire car yourself but you CAN help. I help with anything in the house that needs done. I get allowance but I get more if I pitch in more. So, I help as much as I can. Talk to your parents about that one. Parents love help. :)

2. Sell things that you don't use anymore. Old toys, old books, old clothes. Ask your parents for help and/or permission to sell some of your old things. If you don't use them, somebody else might need them. You can sell things on craigslist, ebay, or even at a garage sale. If you don't have anything of your own to sell, offer to clean the garage with your parents and ask for permission to sell the things they are getting rid of. They might let you keep all of the money but even if they only let you keep part, that still helps!

3. Ask for American Girl giftcards when it's your birthday or any holiday that you get gifts. For some reason, people are more likely to give you a giftcard than money. You can use up to 5 giftcards on the American Girl website at a time. Every little bit helps and giftcards come in all amounts. If somebody wants to spend $10, they can give you a $10 giftcard. If they are willing to give you money then that works too!

Journey Girls Jeep!

I was out shopping with my family today and we went into ToysRUs. I went to the Journey Girls section and I was totally shocked when I saw a jeep!!!! They have a jeep for Journey Girls. It is too cute! Here is the link to the jeep on the ToysRUs website.

More New Pictures

I mentioned that I had more pictures to share with you in one of my last posts. Here are some of my new favorite pictures that I took of my dolls. :)
